Liebe zum Auftakt

Eine Heirat unter einem unglücklichen Stern, ein schüchterner Tubaspieler, eine unverhoffte Liebe und eine Menge “Aida” – das alles erwartet uns zum Auftakt des Hauptprogramms am 4. November im Filmpalast Stadthalle. Das Festival wird mit Hilde Heiers Erstlingsspielfilm Die Souffleuse eröffnet. Die schleswig-holsteinische Ministerpräsidentin Heide Simonis eröffnet das Festival zusammen mit dem Intendanten des NDR und Arte-Präsidenten Jobst Plog. Es ist wohl eher Zufall, daß der Abschlußfilm ebenfalls eine mißglückte Heirat und eine außereheliche Liebe im Mittelpunkt hat, hier aber in einem großen Epos des isländischen Regisseurs Ágúst Gudmundsson, einem wilden Reigen auf einer abgelegenen, sturm- gepeitschten Atlantik-Insel: Der Tanz. Das Filmforum Schleswig-Holstein hat gleich einen doppelten Auftakt: eine offizielle Eröffnung am Donnerstag mit dem Dokumentarfilm Bismuna – Ein Abenteuerfilm und eine offizielle Begrüßung durch die schleswig-holsteinische Kultusministerin Ute Erdsiek-Rave am Freitag. Die Jugendministerin Angelika Birk eröffnet das Kinder- und Jugendfilmprogramm mit dem schwedischen Kinderfilm Tsatsiki. Schließlich bildet die tschechische Andersen-Märchenverfilmung Galoschen des Glücks den Auftakt zur Retrospektive, während die Werkschau mit Arne Skouens bedeutendem Spielfilm Soweit die Kräfte reichen beginnt.

Leading with Love

A marriage off to a bad start, a shy tuba player, an unexpected love and a whole lot of ”Aida” – all this is what we can expect from the opening film of the main programme, Hilde Heier’s cheerfully wistful The Prompter (Norway-Sweden). Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister-President Heide Simonis and NDR Director and Arte President Jobst Plog will open the festival. It is no doubt accidental that the closing film also treats a disastrous wedding and an illicit love, but in this case it is embed-ded in a great epic story on a remote, storm-battered Atlantic island: The Dance by Icelandic di-rector Ágúst Gudmundsson. The Filmforum has two openings, as it were: Bismuna – An Adventure Film marks the official start of the Filmforum on Thursday, while Schleswig-Holstein Minister of Culture Ute Erdsiek-Rave will hold a speech of welcome on Friday at the 18.30 hrs screening of Where the Sky Meets the Land. Minister of Youth Angelika Birk will officially open the children’s and youth programme with the Swedish film Tsatsiki. Finally, the H.C. Andersen retro-spective leads off with the Czech film The Galoshes of Fortune from 1986, while the survey of Arne Skouen’s films opens with his famous Nine Lives (1957). Leading with Love
