39. Nordische Filmtage Lübeck

Grußwort der Ministerpräsidentin des Landes Schleswig-Holstein

Mit Skandinavien und den Anrainern des "Mare balticum" verbindet unser Land seit alters her nicht nur die geographische Lage, sondern auch eine über weite Strecken gemeinsame Geschichte. Sie ist der Boden, auf dem Schleswig-Holsteins Rolle als Kulturbrücke gewachsen ist. Seit 1988 ist die Ostseekooperation ein Schwerpunkt der Landespolitik. Der kulturelle Austausch hat dabei eine besondere Bedeutung. Auch 1997 gab es wieder eine Reihe bedeutender kultureller Ereignisse. Ich denke an den Länderschwerpunkt Norwegen beim Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival oder an JazzBaltica. Und zweifellos gehören auch die Nordischen Filmtage in diese Reihe.
Projekte künstlerischer und kultureller Kooperation sind hervorragend dazu geeignet, das Zusammenwachsen Europas zu fördern. Die Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck sind ein Forum des gegenseitigen Austausches, des Erkennens von Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschieden, des Miteinanders und der selbstbewußten Abgrenzung. Seit Jahrzehnten beweisen sie, wie Verständnis und Vertrauen unter Nachbarn aus kulturellen Begegnungen erwächst.
Auch in diesem Jahr sind die Nordischen Filmtage wieder ein wichtiges Schaufenster der nord- und nordosteuropäischen Filmproduktion. Neben dem neuen Film der Ehrenvorsitzenden Liv Ullmann und der gewiß unterhaltsamen Retrospektive zu Verfilmungen der "Olsen-Bande" werden Debütwerke junger Filmemacherinnen und Filmemacher im Zentrum stehen. Sie werden im Rahmen der Reihe "New Nordic Cinema" präsentiert. Ich bin davon überzeugt, daß der Nachwuchs von hier aus den Weg in den deutschen Filmverleih finden wird.
Ich danke der Hansestadt Lübeck als Veranstalterin, dem bewährten Organisationsteam und allen Beteiligten für ihr Engagement. Und ich danke den Förderern und Stiftern für ihre großzügige Unterstützung. Den 39. Nordischen Filmtagen Lübeck wünsche ich einen erfolgreichen Verlauf und allen Gästen ein anregendes Wochenende in Schleswig-Holstein.

A Word of Welcome from the Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein

Since ancient times Schleswig-Holstein has shared with Scandinavia and the states bordering the "Mare balticumî not only its geographical position, but also a common history which goes back a long way. This is the background against which Schleswig-Holsteinís role as a cultural bridge has developed. Cooperation with the Baltic states has been a focal point of policy of our region since 1988 and in this context we attach special importance to cultural exchange. 1997 has again included a series of important cultural events, for instance the strong Norwegian focus at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, or JazzBaltica. And without any doubt the Nordic Film Days are one of these significant events.
Artistic and cultural cooperative projects are outstandingly suited to promoting increased European unity. The Nordic Film Days Lübeck provide a forum for mutual exchange, reveal points we have in common as well as differences, and support togetherness while respecting limits. For decades now, this festival has demonstrated how understanding and trust between neighbours grow out of cultural get-togethers.
This year the Nordic Film Days are once again an important showcase for northern and northeastern European film production. Besides the new film by the Honorary President Liv Ullmann and the doubtlessly entertaining retrospective of "Olsen Gang" films, debut works from young filmmakers are again at the centre of attention. They will be presented in the section "New Nordic Cinema". I am convinced that works by young talent will find their way from here into the German film distribution circuit.
I wish to thank the Hanseatic City of Lübeck in its role as responsible organiser, the tried and tested festival team and all participants for their commitment. And I also wish to thank the festivalís promoters and donors for their generous support. I wish the 39th Lübeck Nordic Film Festival every success and I wish all guests and visitors a stimulating weekend in Schleswig-Holstein.
