Grußwort des Senators für Kultur, Bildung und Jugend der Hansestadt Lübeck

Die Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck zeigen seit vier Jahrzehnten jedes Jahr Filme der aktuellen Produktion aus skandinavischen und Ostseeanrainer-Ländern. So kreativ die Filmemacherinnen und Filmemacher sind, die ihre Werke hier präsentieren, so innovativ sind die Nordischen Filmtage selbst. Vor zehn Jahren wurde das Filmforum Schleswig-Holstein ins Leben gerufen, das sich zum lebendigen Bestandteil des Festivals entwickelt hat. Jüngstes Beispiel: New Nordic Cinema, das neue Schaufenster für qualitätvolle Produktionen, die Verleiherinnen und Verleihern für den deutschen und internationalen Markt nähergebracht werden sollen. Die Nordischen Filmtage haben sich bereits einen exzellenten Ruf erworben als Dreh- und Angelpunkt bei der Vermarktung von Filmen für den nichtkommerziellen Bereich. Dem alljährlichen medienpädagogischen Seminar kommt dabei besonderes Gewicht zu. Nun möchten die Nordischen Filmtage sich verstärkt als Messeplatz für den kommerziellen Bereich etablieren. Wir halten den Zeitpunkt für einen solchen Schritt gekommen. Und er wird möglich, weil der Nordic Film & TV Fund uns dankenswerterweise bei dem Projekt unterstützt.
Unser Dank gilt dem Land Schleswig-Holstein, dem Auswärtigen Amt in Bonn, dem Nordischen Ministerrat und dem Norwegischen Außenministerium. Ebenso dankbar sind wir unserem langjährigen Partner NDR sowie zahlreichen Wirtschaftsunternehmen, die uns mit Geld und Sachmitteln unterstützen und damit zeigen, welche Bedeutung sie den Nordischen Filmtagen und Lübeck als Kulturstadt beimessen.
Die internationale Beachtung der Hansestadt im Kulturbereich nimmt kontinuierlich zu. Gerade ist die Hansestadt, deren Altstadt seit zehn Jahren zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehört, mit ihrem interaktiven Projekt "Lübeck und Buddenbrooks - Weltliteratur erlebt im Weltkulturerbe" als eines der ersten weltweiten Projekte der Weltausstellung EXPO 2000 Hannover registriert worden. Eine Verknüpfung von Tradition und Innovation.
Die Hansestadt Lübeck heißt Sie, liebe Gäste aus den nordischen Ländern und dem Baltikum, aus dem Norden und den anderen Regionen Deutschlands, herzlich willkommen. Wir wünschen Ihnen erlebnisreiche Nordische Filmtage 1997, die Sie mit nachhaltigen Erinnerungen erfüllen.

A Word of Welcome from the Senator for Culture, Education and Youth of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck

Every year for the past four decades the Nordic Film Days Lübeck have been showing films from the current production of the Scandinavian countries and states bordering on the Baltic. Just as the filmmakers who present their works here are creative, so too has the festival itself proved innovative. Ten years ago the Filmforum Schleswig-Holstein was created, which meanwhile has become a permanent lively element of the festival. The most recent example is the section New Nordic Cinema, the showcase for high-quality product from the north which is to be introduced to distributors for the German and international market. The Nordic Film Days have long since earned an excellent reputation as a pivot point for the marketing of films for the non-commercial sector. The media-pedagogical seminar is especially important in this respect.
Now the festival is striving to establish itself as a marketplace for the commercial sector as well. We believe that the time has come for this step. And it has been made possible by a grant which the Nordic Film & TV Fund generously contributed toward the realisation of this project.
We also express our thanks to the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the Foreign Office in Bonn, the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Norwegian Foreign Ministry. Our thanks go out to our longtime partner NDR as well and to the numerous companies and enterprises who have support-ed us with money or services, thus demonstrating the importance they attach to the Nordic Film Days and to Lübeck as a city of culture.
The international attention which Lübeck has been receiv-ing for its cultural contributions is continuously on the increase. The Hanseatic city, whose historical old town has belonged to the UNESCO world cultural heritage for ten years, has recently registered its interactive project "Lübeck and Buddenbrooks ñ World Literature Experienced in World Cultural Heritage" as one of the very first projects worldwide for the worldís fair EXPO 2000 in Hanover. A combination of tradition and innovation.
The Hanseatic City of Lübeck cordially welcomes you to the festival, dear friends and guests from the Nordic countries and the Baltic and from the north and other regions of Germany. We wish you eventful Nordic Film Days 1997 and hope they will provide you with lasting memories.
