Die Fernsehjournalistin Doris hat eine Pechsträhne, beruflich und privat. Ihr Freund Gunnar betrügt sie ausgerechnet mit ihrer besten Freundin Sophie. Doris will Gunnar zwingen, zu ihr zurückzukehren und setzt ihm ein Ultimatum. Wenn er nicht Punkt 9 Uhr an einem bestimmten Hochhaus auftaucht, wird sie vom Dach springen, und ein ein Kameramann wird die Szene aufzeichnen. Sophie möchte das auf alle Fälle verhindern und macht sich mit Gunnar auf zu einer Odyssee durch Hamburg. Dabei treffen sie zunächst auf Olli, Sophies eifersüchtigen und schlagkräftigen Ex-Freund, der noch nicht weiß, daß Gunnar seinen Platz eingenommen hat. Er verfolgt die beiden durch die halbe Stadt, bis Sophie ihm in der U-Bahn die Wahrheit gesteht. Doch der Weg zum Dach ist noch lang, und während Sophie um das Leben von Doris kämpft, plant Gunnar bereits die Zukunft mit seiner neuen Freundin...
Doris, a television journalist, is having a run of bad luck, both professionally and personally. Her boyfriend, Gunnar, is cheating on her with, of all people, her best friend Sophie. Wanting to force Gunnar to come back to her, Doris gives him an ultimatum: if he doesn't show up at a certain skyscraper at exactly 9 am, she'll jump off the building, and a cameraman will document the whole thing. Sophie wants to prevent this at all costs and sets off with Gunnar on an odyssey through Hamburg. Along the way, they meet up with Olli, Sophie's jealous and physically powerful ex-boyfriend, who doesn't yet know that Gunnar has taken his place. He follows the two halfway across the city until Sophie confesses the truth to him in the underground. But they still have a long way to go before they reach the skyscraper, and while Sophie fights for Doris' life, Gunnar is already planning out a rosy future with his new girlfriend...
