LUEBECK, November 5, 1995 - "The Baltic Films Prize jury would like to stress that in selecting its prize for a Nordic feature film it is looking for a film that not only demonstrates technical quality, but also the quality of the human soul. This year we found an amazing number of films that fulfil these criteria. We were very pleased about this. This year's Baltic Films Prize goes to the film "Eggs" by director/writer Bent Hamer from Norway.
The grounds: The director has succeeded in telling his moving story in an ascetic form. He describes people's loneliness and the tenderness of living together, but also tells us about the fear and the courage to live alone. But above all, Bent Hamer demonstrates the power of humour that old people can summon up when they are able to come to terms with sentimentality and fears." +++
