Eine charmante Geschichte aus Tórshavn auf den Färöer-Inseln: Ein älteres Ehepaar wird auf eine harte Probe gestellt, da der Mann sich zu einer viel jüngeren Frau hingezogen fühlt. Was macht man, wenn der einst liebe Ehegatte nach einer langen Zeit harmonischen Zusammenlebens einen verlassen will – nur wegen einer jüngeren Frau? Die betrogene Ehefrau wird deshalb nicht böse, sondern denkt vielmehr, daß der Gatte das Recht hat zu gehen. Denn: Er wird schon zurückkommen! Sie behält recht, doch die Dinge entwickeln sich anders, als sie geglaubt hat. Katrin Ottarsdóttir wurde – als erste von den Färöer-Inseln – 1982 an der Filmschule in Kopenhagen ausgebildet. Alle Schauspieler des Films stammen von den Inseln, die eine sehr aktive Theaterszene besitzen, mit Ausnahme der jungen schwedischen Frau Maria. 1989 wurde Katrin Ottarsdóttir auf den Nordischen Filmtagen für „Atlantic Rhapsody“ mit dem Preis der Nordischen Filminstitute ausgezeichnet.
A delightful story from Tórshavn on the Faroe Islands: The marriage of an older couple is put to the test when the husband feels attracted to a younger woman. What do you do when your loving spouse suddenly wants to leave you after years of harmonious life together – all because of a younger woman? The deceived wife doesn’t get angry because of all this, but instead thinks that her husband has the right to leave her. Simply because he’ll come crawling back to her! She’s right about that, but things turn out differently than she expected. Katrin Ottarsdóttir was the first woman from the Faroe Islands to study at the film school in Copenhagen, which she entered in 1982. With the exception of the young Swedish woman Maria, all of the parts in the film are played by actors from the Faroe Islands, where there is an active theatre scene. In 1989 Katrin Ottarsdóttir was awarded the prize of the Nordic Film Institutes for her film “Atlantic Rhapsody“.
