Stefan Jarl, 1941 geboren, wurde früh ein Schüler von Arne Sucksdorff und besuchte die Filmschule des schwedischen Filminstitutes von 1965 bis 1967. Jarl gilt als eine treibende Kraft der alternativen schwedischen Filmszene. Internationale Beachtung erlangte Jarl durch seinen Film Mods.The struggle of the Lapp peoples for their land and their culture and against the Swedish urban mentality.
Stefan Jarl, born in 1941 in Skara, early on became a student of Arne Sucksdorff and studied at the film school of the Swedish Film Institute from 1965 to 1967. Jarl is considered the driving force behind the alternative Swedish film scene. His film Mods brought him international recognition.
