Drei Jahre lang hat sich Lottie Marsau ohne Visum in Tibet aufgehalten und dort mit einem kleinen Team ohne Drehgenehmigung in der Region Lhasa, Shigatse und Ngari Film- und Tonaufnahmen gemacht, die die Auswirkungen der seit über vierzig Jahren andauernden chinesischen Besetzung in Kultur und Alltag des Landes dokumentieren. Sie zeigt zerstörte und zerfallene Tempel, aber auch solche, die – als Museum – restauriert werden. Sie verdeutlicht die Repression und Einschüchterung der Bevölkerung durch das allgegenwärtige Militär und übermittelt Lebenszeichen aus Gefängnissen und Internierungslagern. Vor allem zeigt sie Szenen aus dem Alltagsleben. Lottie Marsau, geboren 1953 in Heide/Holstein und aufgewachsen in Ratzeburg. Sie studierte Schlagwerk in Hamburg, New Orleans und Südamerika und gründete eigene Bands. 1989 unternahm sie ihre erste mehrmonatige Reise nach Tibet.
For three years Lottie Marsau stayed in Tibet without a visa and made film and sound recordings with a small team, although she had no permission to film. Her material from the region of Lhasa, Shigatse and Ngari documents the effects of more than forty years of Chinese occupation on the culture and daily lives of the Tibetan people. She shows temples that have been destroyed and fallen to ruin, but also some that have been restored – as museums. She records the oppression and intimidation of the inhabitants by the omnipresent military and passes on signs of life from internees in prisons. But above all, she shows scenes of everyday life. Lottie Marsau, born in 1953 in Heide/Holstein and raised in Ratzeburg. She studied percussion in Hamburg, New Orleans and South America and founded her own bands. In 1989 she went to Tibet for the first time, spending several months there.
