Vier Tage und Nächte lang werden Filme aus den nordischen Ländern das Leben in Lübeck bestimmen: herausragende Werke aus der 100-jährigen Filmgeschichte meines Heimatlandes Norwegen ebenso wie brandneue Produktionen. Ich bin mir sicher, dass das Publikum wieder in großer Zahl in die Festivalkinos strömen und den Filmen eine interessierte und herzliche Aufnahme bereiten wird. Das ist eine große Freude und Erleichterung für die Regisseure, die meist über viele Jahre an einem Filmprojekt gearbeitet haben. Es gibt kaum einen Ort, an dem Filme aus den nordischen Ländern so begeistert aufgenommen werden wie in Lübeck. Deshalb freue ich mich schon heute darauf, hoffentlich bald wieder einen Film in Lübeck präsentieren zu können. Der nächste Film, bei dem ich Regie führe, wird ein sehr nordischer Film sein. „The Journey Home“, nach dem Roman von Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson, erzählt die Geschichte einer Frau, die in ihr Heimatland Island zurückkehrt und sich ihrer Vergangenheit stellen muss. Dieses Projekt erfordert jetzt meine ganze Zeit und Aufmerksamkeit. Den Nordischen Filmtagen möchte ich aber meine herzlichen Grüße und besten Wünsche übermitteln!

IFor four days and four nights, films from the Nordic countries will dominate life in Lübeck. They include outstanding works from a century of filmmaking in my homeland, Norway, as well as brand-new productions. I am sure that an interested public will once again flock to the cinemas to welcome these films heartily. That in itself is a joy and a relief to the directors who have worked so long on their projects. There are few places where films from the Nordic countries can expect such a warm welcome as in Lübeck. For this reason alone, I am already looking forward enormously to presenting a new film here. The next film I am directing will be a very Nordic film. “The Journey Home”, based on a novel by Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson, tells the story of a woman who returns to her Icelandic homeland and has to face up to her past. This project is currently taking up all my time and attention. In the meantime, I would like to send my kindest regards and very best wishes to the Nordic Film Days Lübeck!
