Grußwort Nordische Filmtage 2005
 
Die Nordischen Filmtage sind ein bedeutendes Filmfestival – weit über Norddeutschland hinaus. Seit 15 Jahren engagiert sich der NDR als Medienpartner. Wir sehen darin einen wichtigen Beitrag zum kulturellen Leben in Schleswig-Holstein. Der NDR wird die Nordischen Filmtagen auch künftig als Medienpartner begleiten – mit Filmen und Dokumentationen und mit einer ausführlichen Berichterstattung im NDR Fernsehen und in den Radioprogrammen. Auch wenn eine direkte finanzielle Förderung wegen notwendiger Einsparungen nicht mehr möglich ist, werden wir mit neuen Akzenten und Impulsen versuchen, die Nordischen Filmtage noch attraktiver zu machen. Schon in diesem Jahr wird ein Highlight gesetzt: Das NDR Fernsehen begleitet das Festival erstmals mit einer „Skandinavischen Filmnacht“ am 5. November. Der NDR Filmpreis bleibt ein wichtiger Teil des NDR Engagements bei den Nordischen Filmtagen. Er ist der höchstdotierte Preis und wird an herausragende Werke des nordischen Kinos vergeben. In der Vergangenheit zeichnete die Jury damit vielfach Debütfilme junger Regisseure aus, die später große Erfolge feierten. Dazu zählen unter anderem die ersten beiden Teile einer Trilogie des dänischen Filmemachers Per Fly. Mit „Der Totschlag“, dritter Teil der Reihe und in Dänemark bereits ein großer Kinohit, kommt in diesem Jahr zur Eröffnung wieder eine spannende Produktion auf die Leinwand. Mit eigenen, sehenswerten Co-Produktionen tragen der NDR und ARTE auch diesmal ganz wesentlich zum Programm der Filmtage bei. Gezeigt werden beispielsweise die deutschdänische Familiengeschichte „Die blaue Grenze“ von Till Franzen und „Die Posaune des Jazz“, ein Portrait über Albert Mangelsdorff. Premiere feiert „Menschen im Meer“, eine fünfteilige Dokumentation über das Hallig-Leben. Und mit „Die Nacht der großen Flut“ von Raymond Ley kommt eine bereits beim Filmfest Hamburg preisgekrönte NDR-Produktion auch nach Lübeck. Ich wünsche den Nordischen Filmtagen Lübeck 2005 viele Höhepunkte – und den Besuchern unterhaltsame und ergreifende Stunden im Kino.

A Word of Welcome to the Nordic Film Days 2005
 
The Nordic Film Days are an important festival with a sphere of influence far beyond northern Germany. For the past 15 years, NDR has been involved as a media partner. We regard this as an important contribution to the cultural life of Schleswig-Holstein. NDR will continue to be the media partner of the Nordic Film Days in future, providing films and documentaries as well as reporting the festival in depth on television and radio. Even though cut-backs mean that direct funding is no longer possible, we intend to make every effort to provide an input that will make the Nordic Film Days even more appealing. One highlight has already been put in place for this year: NDR television will supplement the festival by presenting its own first Scandinavian Film Night on 5 November. The NDR Film Prize is an important aspect of NDR’s involvement in the Nordic Film Days. It is financially the most rewarding prize and is awarded to outstanding works of Nordic cinema. In the past, the jury has often given it to the debut films of young directors who have later gone on to carve highly successful careers. Among them have been the first two parts of a trilogy by Danish filmmaker Per Fly. With “Manslaughter”, the third and final part in this series, already a major box office hit in Denmark, this year’s festival will open with yet another exciting production. This year, once again, NDR and ARTE have enriched the Nordic Film Days programme with their own highly attractive co-productions. These include, for instance, the German-Danish family saga “A Quiet Love” by Till Franzen and “The Jazz Trombone”, a portrait of Albert Mangelsdorff. “The People in the Sea”, a five-part documentary about life on the Hallig islands, celebrates its premiere here. And with Raymond Ley’s “The Night of the Great Flood”, an awardwinner at the Hamburg Filmfest, yet another highly acclaimed NDR production comes to Lübeck. I hope that the 2005 Nordic Film Days Lübeck will be a festival full of highlights – and I wish the festival-goers many entertaining and exciting hours of cinema.
