Kinder- und Jugendfilmpreis der Nordischen Filminstitute - Begründung der Jury

Anlässlich der 47. Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck 2005 vergibt die Jury den Kinder- und Jugendfilmpreis der Nordischen Filminstitute an:
 
R��vlirahnu Martin / Der magische Kater / Mat the Cat
 
Jeder hat sicher schon einmal das Gef�hl kennen gelernt, wie es ist, einsam zu sein. Und was man sich dann wohl am allermeisten w�nscht, ist ein gro�er starker Freund, der einem hilft. Der zehnj�hrige Martin ist Au�enseiter in einer estnischen Kleinstadt. Eines Tages begegnet ihm in einem einsamen Feld ein Kater. Das Tier verwandelt sich in einen punkigen Jungen mit Schweif, Nietenarmband und Katzenaugen. Diese einfache Geschichte erz�hlt der Spielfilm originell und vielschichtig. Die Charaktere sind schnell und klar erfassbar, aber niemals eindimensional. Am Ende zeigen sie immer eine �berraschend neue Seite von sich. Martin und Kater Nitram sind starke Figuren, die im Ged�chtnis bleiben. Au�ergew�hnlich treffende Dialoge, �berraschende Wendungen sowie fantasiereiche Einf�lle verleihen dem Film Tiefe und machen ihn zu einem Spa� f�r Kinder sowie f�r Erwachsene.

Children's Film Prize of the Nordic Film Institutes - Statement of the Jury

On the occasion of the 47th Nordic Film Days Lübeck 2005 the Jury awards the Children's Film Prize of the Nordic Film Institutes to:

or the following reason:
 
Everyone knows the feeling of how it is to be lonely. And what you need most at a time like that is a big strong friend. Ten-year-old Martin is an outsider in a small Estonian town. One day he meets a cat in an empty field. The animal turns into a punky boy with a tail, a studded armband and cat-like eyes. The film tells this simple story in an original and complex way. The characters are quickly understood and clearly portrayed, but they are never one-dimensional. In the end they all show a surprising new side of their personality. Martin and Mat the Cat are strong figures that will remain in our memory. Extremely good dialogue, surprising twists and imaginative ideas give the film depth and make it enjoyable for both children and adults.
