Die Städtepartnerschaft zwischen Lübeck und La Rochelle erfährt eine Vertiefung auf kulturellem Gebiet: Die Leiterinnen der Filmfestivals beider Städte, Prune Engler und Linde Fröhlich, haben in diesem Frühjahr eine enge Zusammenarbeit und einen Austausch von Programmen vereinbart. Beim 33. Festival International du Film de La Rochelle, das am 1. Juli 2005 eröffnet wird und bis zum 7. Juli andauert, werden die Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck mit einem Kinderfilmprogramm des dänischen Animationsfilmers Jannik Hastrup vertreten sein. Linde Fröhlich wird die Filme in der Partnerstadt vorstellen. Dort wird sie auch auf die Ehrenpräsidentin der Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck, Liv Ullmann, treffen, der das Festival von La Rochelle eine Hommage gewidmet hat. Das Festival von La Rochelle zählt zu den traditionsreichsten und angesehensten in Frankreich und ist beim Publikum ebenso beliebt wie die Filmtage in Lübeck. "Beide Städte sind Kulturstädte und genießen in der Filmwelt einen besonderen Ruf. Insofern ist eine enge Kooperation und ein Austausch ganz natürlich", kommentierte die Lübecker Kultursenatorin Annette Borns. Und ihre Kollegin Colette Chaigneau meint: "Wir können uns zu dieser Partnerschaft nur beglückwünschen!"

Twin cities Lübeck and La Rochelle are deepening their cultural bonds: this spring the heads of the film festivals in the two cities, Prune Engler and Linde Fröhlich, agreed on a close cooperation and exchange of programmes. At the 33rd Festival International du Film de La Rochelle, which runs from 1 to 10 July 2005, the Nordic Film Days Lübeck will be represented with a children's film programme by Danish animation film director Jannik Hastrup. Linde Fröhlich will present the films in the partner city. There she will also meet with the Honorary President of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck, Liv Ullmann, to whom the La Rochelle festival is devoting an hommage. Rich in tradition, the La Rochelle event is one of the most renowned film festivals in France and is as much loved by its audience as the Film Days are in Lübeck. "Both cities are cultural cities and enjoy a special reputation in the world of film. It is only natural that there should be close cooperation and exchange," comments Lübeck's Senator for Culture Annette Borns. Her French colleague Colette Chaigneau seconds this thought, adding: "We can only congratulate ourselves on this partnership!"
