Island: Filmproduktion seit 25 Jahren | 25 Years of Icelandic Cinema

25 Jahre wird die Filmindustrie Islands in diesem Jahr – Grund genug, ein Land zu feiern, das knapp südlich des Polarkreises liegt und dessen Einwohnerzahl nicht viel größer ist als die der Stadt Lübeck, denn Island produziert jedes Jahr eine ganze Reihe international erfolgreicher Filme. Was ist das Geheimnis? Was hat es mit der Verbindung der Isländer zur Heimat zu tun? Die Filmförderung MSH und der Schleswig-Holsteinische Heimatbund veranstalten in Zusammenarbeit mit den Nordischen Filmtagen Lübeck und dem Icelandic Film Center ein Seminar am Samstag, dem 6. November. Regisseure und Produzenten können dabei vom erfolgreichen isländischen Beispiel lernen. Die NFL zeigen dazu drei Filmklassiker, die zur hohen Reputation des isländischen Kinos beigetragen haben.

Icelandic film industry turns 25 this year: reason enough to celebrate the country just south of the Arctic Circle with a population not much bigger than that of the city of Lübeck, for it produces several internationally successful feature films each year. What is their secret? What does it have to do with their bonds to the "Heimat”? The film subsidy MSH and the Schleswig-Holsteinischer Heimatbund, in cooperation with the Nordic Film Days and the Icelandic Film Center, are presenting a seminar for producers and filmmakers on Saturday, Nov. 6, to see whether regional filmmakers can learn from the successful Icelandic example. The NFL will show three classic Icelandic films that helped to establish the high reputation of Icelandic cinema.
