Grußwort der Ministerpräsidentin des Landes Schleswig-Holstein
 
Zu den diesjährigen 44. Nordischen Filmtagen Lübeck heiße ich Sie in Schleswig-Holstein herzlich willkommen. Freuen Sie sich mit mir auf vier reizvolle Filmtage mit den wichtigsten neuen Produktionen des nordischen Filmschaffens. Lübeck stellt sich damit einmal mehr als Filmstadt im Norden dar.
Besonders freue ich mich auf die Begegnung mit den Künstlerinnen und Künstlern, mit den Filmemacherinnen und Filmemachern, mit den Produzentinnen und Produzenten, die jeder für sich eine ganz eigene filmische Perspektive und Weltsicht gefunden haben. Der skandinavische Film hat bereits eine Tradition jenseits der Hollywood-Produktionen und des künstlerischen Mainstreams begründet, an deren Fortune auch die Nordischen Filmtage gewissen Anteil haben.
Mit der klaren Profilierung als Spielstätte des nordischen Films haben sich die Filmtage in Lübeck zu einer festen Größe im internationalen Festivalgeschehen entwickelt. Der Veranstalter und die Förderer - die Hansestadt so wie der Norddeutsche Rundfunk und die Landesregierung - wollen diesen Erfolg sichern und fortentwickeln. Dazu werden Impulse gesetzt, die die öffentliche Aufmerksamkeit erhöhen, indem beispielsweise die Filmtage mit einer festlichen Gala in der Musik- und Kongresshalle eröffnet werden. Der Eröffnungsfilm wird übrigens für alle Besucherinnen und Besucher während des Festivals wiederholt; die drei wunderbaren "Schwestern im Leben" Bibi Andersson, Ghita Nørby und Liv Ullmann werden beim Festival zugegen sein.
Mit diesem Eröffnungsfilm aus schleswig-holsteinischer Produktion wird ein neuer Akzent außerhalb des Wettbewerbs gesetzt. Die Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck zeigen sich damit flexibel und zukunftsgewiss. Für diese Bereitschaft danke ich den Verantwortlichen.
Die Landesregierung hat im Übrigen die Initiative ergriffen, Schleswig-Holstein als Medienstandort zu stärken. Filmworkshops, die Verbesserung bestehender Fördermöglichkeiten für Produzentinnen und Produzenten sowie für die Medienbranche insgesamt und die stärkere Vernetzung von Institutionen und Aktivitäten - auch im Lande - stehen auf der Tagesordnung, weil die Medien und insbesondere der Film gleichermaßen ein Kultur- wie ein Wirtschaftsgut darstellen. Die Nordischen Filmtage Lübeck unterstreichen diese doppelte "Sinnlichkeit" des Films; sie bleiben - trotz des gereiften Alters - ein ebenso junger wie herausragender Akzent im Gesamtbild des Medienstandortes Schleswig-Holstein.

Danken möchte ich der Hansestadt Lübeck als Veranstalter und allen Beteiligten für ihr großes Engagement. Sie alle tragen dazu bei, dass der gute Ruf der Nordischen Filmtage gefestigt wird. Unseren internationalen Gästen sowie den Besucherinnen und Besuchern aus der Region wünsche ich anregende Filmerlebnisse und Gespräche rund um das Kino in Lübeck.

A Word of Welcome from the Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein
 
I warmly welcome you to Schleswig-Holstein on the occasion of the 44th Nordic Film Days Lübeck. Together, we can look forward to four delightful Film Days featuring the most important new productions in the field of Nordic film. Lübeck, once again, is the film capital of the North.
I am look forward most of all to meeting the artists, the film-makers and the producers, each with their own personal view of film and the world. Scandinavian film has already established a tradition of its own, far from the Hollywood productions and the artistic mainstream, a tradition that undoubtedly owes much to the Nordic Film Days.
As the undisputed centre of Nordic Film presentation, the Film Days in Lübeck have become a major player on the international festival scene. The organisers and funders - the Hanseatic City, the Norddeutsche Rundfunk and the Regional Government - are determined to consolidate and further this success. In doing so, they make moves to heighten public awareness, for example by opening the Film Days with an inaugural gala celebration at the Musik- und Kongresshalle. The opening film will, incidentally, be screened throughout the festivals to give everyone the chance to see the three wonderful "Schwestern im Leben" - Bibi Andersson, Ghita Nørby and Liv Ullmann, all of whom are attending the festival in person.
The opening film, produced in Schleswig-Holstein, places a new emphasis on non-competition films. In this respect, the Nordic Film Days Lübeck have shown flexibility and far-sightedness. For this, I am grateful to those responsible. The Regional Government has taken the initiative of supporting and strengthening Schleswig-Holstein as a media location. Film workshops, improved financial support for producers and the media in general, and closer networking between institutions and activities - with the region as well - are the order of the day, because the media, especially film, are both culturally and economically important. The Nordic Film Days Lübeck underline this dual aspect of film. 44 years on, the Film Days remain a youthful beacon in the overall landscape of Schleswig-Holstein as a media location.
I wish to express my thanks to the Hanseatic City of Lübeck as organisers and to all those involved for their enthusiastic commitment. All of them have contributed towards maintaining and consolidating the reputation of the Nordic Film Days. I wish our international guests and local visitors alike many thought-provoking films and discussions in Lübeck.
