Inhalt/ Summary

Der dänische Maler Per Kirkeby wird auf dem Höhepunkt seiner Karriere von Depressionen geplagt. Er sucht Trost und Erleichterung in der Gesellschaft seines Freundes, des Schriftstellers Ib Michael, genannt "Sunny Boy". Dieser weiß nicht, wie er seinem in schweren Gedanken und inneren Kämpfen verstricktem Freund helfen kann. Soll er ihm Trost spenden? Kann er das überhaupt ? Soll er auf ein Gespräch bestehen, wenn es doch nur zu einem sich immer wiederholenden Fluss von Monologen kommt?Das Besondere an diesem Film ist nicht, dass sich jemand in einer Krise befindet, sondern die Art, in der der Betroffene die verschiedenen Komponenten dieser Lebenskrise vor uns öffnet. Das Spektrum reicht vom innersten intimen Liebesleben bis zum äußersten künstlerischen Dilemma. Mit anderen Worten: die ganze Bandbreite zwischen Lachen und Weinen. Der Film konzentriert sich auf die Gespräche der beiden Männer und öffnet dabei gelegentlich den Blick auf die italienische Landschaft, die Fresken des Schlosses und die Bilder des Künstlers.

Plagued by depression at the very apex of his career, Danish painter Per Kirkeby seeks consolation in conversation with his friend Ib Michael, who does not know how to help. Should he and can he console him? Should he expect a conversation when there can only be a repetitive flow of monologue?What is special about this film is not the fact that someone is going through a crisis. It is the way those affected spread the components of the crisis before us in a spectrum that ranges from the most intimate details of love to the most extreme creative dilemma. Somewhere between laughter and tears. The film concentrates on the conversations of teh two men and occasionally opens a view to the Italian countryside, the frescos in the castle and the paintings of the artist.

Regisseurin Anne Regitze Wivel, Jahrgang 1945, machte 1977 ihren Abschluss in Malerei an der Dänischen Akademie der Künste. Drei Jahre später folgte der Abschluss an der dänischen Filmhochschule.

Director Anne Regitze Wivel, born in 1945, graduated in painting from the Danish Academy of Arts in 1977. Three years later she graduated from the Danish Film School.
