Von der Nordseeküste bis zum Himalaya | Travels with the 14th Filmforum Schleswig-Holstein

Vielfältiger und spannender ist es geworden, das Filmschaffen in Schleswig-Holstein und von Schleswig-Holsteinern. Gepackt von Reiselust und Entdeckerfreude sind immer mehr Filmemacher aus dem Norden rund um den Globus unterwegs, um faszinierende Geschichten über ungewöhnliche Begebenheiten von fremden Ländern und Leuten zu erzählen. Die einen reisten bis in die Hochebenen des Himalaya, um den Rhythmus unserer Zeit zu beobachten. Andere verfolgten die Spuren bizarrer Lebenswege in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart. Und ganz simple Zufälle unseres Alltags boten Filmpoeten den Stoff für ironisch-skurrile Spielfilme. Umgekehrt entdeckten zahlreiche Filmemacher aus anderen Teilen Deutschlands die verborgenen Geheimnisse der schleswig-holsteinischen Landschaft und ihrer Bewohner. Ja, und dann sind da noch die Nachwuchstalente und die Absolventen verschiedener Filmhochschulen, die mit hintersinnig erzählten und technisch ambitionierten Arbeiten auf sich aufmerksam machen. Insgesamt 70 Filme wurden für die 14.Ausgabe des Filmforums Schleswig-Holstein eingesandt. Den Schwerpunkt bilden, wie auch in den vergangenen Jahren, Kurz- und Dokumentarfilme. Die Vielfalt und das qualitativ hohe Niveau der eingesandten Produktionen macht es allerdings nicht leicht, daraus für das deutsche Programm bei den 43.Nordischen Filmtagen eine Auswahl zu treffen. Eins steht jedoch schon fest: Das Filmforum wird in diesem Jahr zum ersten Mal eine Special Edition für das ausländische Festivalpublikum präsentieren. In der Reihe „Nordlichter im deutschen Kino“ werden aktuelle Kinoproduktionen in englisch untertitelter Fassung vorgestellt. Damit soll vor allem den Gästen aus Skandinavien und dem Baltikum Gelegenheit geboten werden, sich einen Einblick in das Filmschaffen im Norden Deutschlands zu verschaffen. Ein Highlight dieser Reihe wird das Filmforum eröffnen: Schutzengel gesucht, der neue Film von Miguel Alexandre.
 
 

If anything, filmmaking in Schleswig-Holstein and by the region’s filmmakers has become even more varied and exciting. Eager to travel and keen on making discoveries, more and more Schleswig-Holsteiners are making their way around the globe with camera in hand to record fascinating stories about unusual happenings and people in foreign lands. Some travel to the plateaus of the Himalayas to study the rhythm of our time. Others follow the traces of bizarre lives in past and present. And simple accidents of our daily existence have offered regional film poets the stuff of ironic and scurrilous feature films. Conversely,numerous filmmakers from other parts of Germany have discovered the hidden treasures of the Schleswig-Holstein countryside and its inhabitants. And then there are the up-and-coming talents and graduates of the various film schools who have attracted attention with their cleverly told and technically ambitious works. Altogether 70 films have been submitted to the 14th edition of the Filmforum Schleswig-Holstein. As in previous years, the focus is on documentaries and short films.The variety and high quality of the productions submitted doesn ’t make it any easier to make a final selection in the coming weeks for the German programme of the Nordic Film Days. One thing is certain:for the first time this year ’s Filmforum will present a Special Edition that is addressed above all to our festival guests from abroad.In the showcase “Northern Lights in the German Cinema”, current productions will be presented with English subtitles. This should give filmmakers and professionals from Scandinavia and the Baltic states the opportunity to inform themselves about the current state of filmmaking here. A highlight of this showcase will open the Filmforum: Schutzengel gesucht (Wanted:A Guardian Angel), the new film by Miguel Alexandre.
