Inhalt/ Summary
Die Frontlinie im Zweiten Weltkrieg verschiebt sich kontinuierlich gen Osten. Die Deutschen agieren im besetzten Gebiet furchtlos und tapfer. Auf der Terrasse eines Hospitals erholen sich Soldaten. Gleich um die Ecke sitzt Klaus Junge und bereitet sich auf ein Schachspiel vor. Niemand stört ihn in seiner Konzentration auf das Spiel. Da springt plötzlich ein Partisane hervor und nimmt Junge als Geisel. Doch am Ende nimmt das Schachspiel beide Männer gefangen – die Könige bekämpfen sich gegenseitig.
The front line in the second world war is constantly pushing eastwards. The Germans act fearlessly in the occupied territories. On the terrace of a hospital, soldiers are recovering. Just around the corner, Klaus Junge is preparing for a game of chess. Nobody disturbs his concentration on the game. Suddenly, a partisan appears and holds him hostage. In the end, both men are captive to the game of chess – in the battle of the kings.
