Hussains kleine Fleischerei im Osten von Oslo läuft nicht gut. Seine Kunden wollen frisches Lammfleisch, aber während des kalten norwegischen Winters hat er nur gefrorenes im Angebot. Als Hussain doch eine Ladung Frischfleisch bekommt, wollen seine Kunden in dem Osloer Einwandererviertel nur Ware von männlichen, nicht von weiblichen Tieren. Hussain – der ein guter Verkäufer ist – muss seine Kunden nun davon überzeugen, dass in Norwegen doch in allen Bereichen Gleichberechtigung herrscht.

Business could be better in Hussain’s little butcher shop in the east of Oslo. His customers want fresh lamb, but he can only provide frozen meat during the cold Norwegian winter. When he does get a consignment of fresh lamb, his customers in this Oslo immigrant district want only the meat of male animals. Hussain, a talented salesman, has to persuade his customers that, in Norway, the concept of equal rights is all-inclusive.

Regisseur Fritjof Kjæreng, Jahrgang 1964, hat zwölf Jahre als unabhängiger Produzent und Regisseur in der norwegischen Film- und Fernsehindustrie gearbeitet. Nach Philosophiestudium in Tromsö und Film- und Fernsehstudien in Australien und Norwegen arbeitete Kjæreng in NRK-Studios in Oslo, Bergen und Tromsö. 1995 gründete er f(x) productions AS, um sich auf eine progressive Form des Dokumentarfilms konzentrieren zu können.

Director Fritjof Kjaereng, born in 1964, has been working as an independet producer and director in Norwegian film and television for twelve years. He read philosophy at Tromsö and film and television studies in Australia and Norway before working at the NRK studios in Oslo, Bergen and Tromsö. In 1995 he founded f(x) productions AS in order to be able to concentrate on a progressive form of documentary film.
