Aina, die Eierfrau, schlägt Tag für Tag bis zu 40.000 Eier in einer lettischen Bäckerei auf – und das seit nahezu 20 Jahren. Obwohl das Unternehmen privatisiert worden und viele Arbeitsprozesse in den vergangenen Jahren automatisiert worden sind, hat sich an Ainas Tätigkeit praktisch nichts geändert. Die Eierfrau selbst sagt, ihre monotone Arbeit gebe ihr Freiräume, ausgiebig über das Leben nachzudenken.

Aina, the egg lady, cracks up to 40,000 eggs a day in a Latvian bakery – just as she has done for almost 20 years. Although the company has been privatised and many of the work processes have been automated, Aina’s job has remained more or less the same. The egg lady herself claims that the monotony of her work gives her the freedom to think about life.

Regisseurin Una Celma studierte am Moskauer Filminstitut. Seit 1989 hat die Lettin bei einem langen Spielfilm, zwei Kurzfilmen und zwei Dokumentarfilmen Regie geführt. Vergangenes Jahr zeigten die Nordischen Filmtage ihren Spielfilm „Follow Me“. Zeitweilig lebt Una Celma in Stockholm.

Director Una Celma studied at the Moscow Film Institute. Since 1989 this Latvian director has made a long feature film, two shorts and two documentaries. Her feature film ”Follow Me” was shown last year in Lübeck. Una Celma lives part of the time in Stockholm.
